i finally like the way i draw. I may still procrastinate and have tons of wips but i can live with that. However i just can't wrap my mind around digital painting. Bucket filling stuff only goes so far but when it comes to shading. i just leave the thing flat colored so just asking when you got started did you just wing it? On a side note is it weird that i can draw nice pics of other people's request no matter how complicated but can't seem to manage a simple headshot of my own ocs
Hey there Anon! Let me start off by saying that I’m glad that you’re liking the way you draw. That’s a very difficult thing for a lot of artists, so kudos for you!
As for your question; I personally would say that I winged it when I first began digitally shading. Painting is one big experiment and it takes a long while before it ever becomes easy, but don’t get discouraged. Start small (such as cell shading & gradients to your works) to get a feel for adding definition to your art, because small successes in art become big successes with time. ♥ It took years for me to learn how to paint the way I do now (and hell, I still struggle and learn each day!), so just keep at ‘er.
AND NO it’s totally not weird! I relate to that too perfectly. It varies for me but I find it might be because artists hold their own stories and OC’s at a higher level of expectation than other peoples, naturally. Getting your own character to look like how they do in your head is a stressful thing, no? <__>
Thanks for the ask! I enjoyed replying to this. :’) & Good luck.
